17th april- last friday, cheryl, another classmate of mine turned 21. comparing to kenny, her party had significantly less people. having said that, i am certain she tasted warmth and euphoria within that mini group of hers. i reckon most of her friends took great measures to make her feel like a princess. right cheryl? *do thank willy, he chose the exotic-smelling perfume for you. and the stylo-milo guess bag as well.
18th april- on a scorching saturday, i brought 6 people from the YEP trip to the pet shelter. as always, i would drop by the ericsson pet shop first. from the ooooohs and awwwwwws, i knew they were enjoying themselves (despite the insane weather). that however, changed into "eh?!" when we reached the shelter. you could sense the trepidation within my friends when the fully-grown canines started barking and expressing their displeasure. they were pretty astonished at us. so were we. kathy (founder) arrived and i was allowed inside. it has been months since i last went there. as such, i retarded my movements to signal my peaceful intentions. you see, sudden movements might startle the dogs. when the alpha dog bites, the rest follows. i wouldn't want that. i "cleared" customs and was allowed to roam about their shelter. haha. the others followed closely behind. as the day went ahead, their fears were alleviated and soon, everyone was busy patting dogs. there was one dog in particular that caught my attention. a labrador retriever. having had not much experience with this particular breed, i was taken aback by its affectionate, affable and above all, energetic nature. this monster of a dog, after stroking the head and patting its belly, it started jumping onto me. it has been some time since i last had that experience (the last being duke the rottweiler from mettacats). i tried to divert its' attention to subaa but my efforts proved futile. haha. i am unsure of the retriever's name, but i call it furball due to its excessive shedding of fur. my bermuda was covered with fur after the boisterous encounter la. haha. the photos are at facebook. *btw, vladimir putin's dog is of this breed (don't tell me you don't know who he is. go google).
21st april- together with lian kai, i attended Make-A-Wish foundation's orientation. both of us were jobless, had truckloads of time, and wanted to make a difference to people's lives (terminally-ill children to be exact). browsing through nvpc's website, i was especially drawn to the concept of granting wishes. their mission, "to create hope and happiness by granting wishes to children with life-threatening illnesses" left me particularly touched. the fact that every wish is different only piqued my interest towards the organisaton. after the orientaton, we signed up for their annual golf tournament on 19th june. not as golfers, but as volunteers. haha.
