few days back, i went for my ns medical check-up. going for the check-up sort of signifies the impending end to my civilian life. sigh. on a positive note, the whole session was pretty smooth sailing. instead of the incessant long waits that you have with NS (generally), we were instructed to proceed to the next station once we were done at the current one. the only station which send shivers down my spine was the blood-taking part. the pain was bearable. watching the medic with the megawatt smile poking the needle into my arm was not. it was an unsightly scene. -.-" thank god she did it on the first try, i don't relish the thought of another needle.
the final station was an 1-to-1 interview with the medical officer. although i was diagnosed with abnormal heartbeat, which bewilders me greatly, the MO gave the good-to-go sign. "you are certified as PES A." that status opens the door to many opportunities. the good thing is that they did not detect any long-lost hereditary illness within me. phew. haha. on a flip side, it means they can throw me into any vocation (except divers, of course) they desire. i can potentially be in the army, navy, air force, police force or even civil defence! i hope i do not get into the last two.
ngee ann has been having their open house for the past two days. i wasn't involve this year. instead, my classmates and i, we went as spectators, visiting the various cca booths and soaking up the atmosphere. to our chagrin, we did not enjoy ourselves. well, maybe it stems from the fact that we are already in year 3, what cca will want to take us? we went to the convention centre for a peek. they had course-counseling, and to our dismay, we saw our lecturers. shit. project not done and you come here for a walk? we darted off. the new batch of incoming students are really lucky. there are so many new facilities available compared to when i was in year 1. gymwerkz, ourspace@72, new football field, underpass (i wonder whether it is still in use) and now, makan place. i bet my friends in the army are clueless to the places i am saying. a year from now, i reckon i would be lost too.
i'm back to long-distance running again. yes, after a 6 months halt, it's about time i go back to the grit-my-teeth-and-swear-profusely-in-my-head-wondering-when-the-run-will-end-and-hope-my-legs-can-take-it experience. haha. every alternate day since the start of dec, i have been pounding the pavement at this canal near my neighbourhood. each round around the canal is about 1.2km. i am doing 8 rounds per session. at this rate, i wonder when i can be fit for 42km again. i have to complete like 35 mind-boggling rounds?! i hope my recalcitrant knees can take it.
