CHRISTMAS 2008

24th dec, wed- i went for my 6th driving lesson. driving is good old fun. yes, to be in full control (well, almost. if you remove the additional brake pedal at my instructor's seat that is) of a vehicle, varying the speed, gear, clutch, and swirling the steering wheel in circles, wow. good old fun. no wonder people become racers.

however, to have an exceedingly joyous lesson, the instructor plays a paramount part. as beginners, you are prone to jitters, nervousness and as a result, you commit mistakes. when you screw up, the -.-" feeling takes over. now, add a barking "mentor" to your side to compound the misery. shitty feeling. i pity my pal, jq. driving lessons must have felt like hell for him. anyway, i had a generally good lesson; instructor was good, weather was fine and i did not commit nor cause any accident (ok la, i scared a few pedestrians for braking too late).

in the evening, it was party time at wenting's house. special thanks to wenting; providing the venue, to eileen; gathering the people & preparing/buying the food, to shu qing; preparing/buying the food. hmm. kudos to everyone else; for turning up.

most of us were famished, but as the turkey and chickens were not ready, we had to settle for bread. no one complained though.

look at the spread! we had potato salad, cheezy hot dogs, egg salad, tuna (different flavours), tomatoes, cucumbers and lettuces. they even prepared campbell soup.

eileen and shuqing preparing the ham. i wanted to help, but i reckoned i might cut my own fingers or burn the kitchen down, so.. no. haha. but i did ask.

the positioning of the food, coupled with my atrocious photo-taking skills made the roasted chickens resemble offerings to gods. omg.

no one gave a hoot about utensils. we, like savagers, went for the poor chicken. hahahahaha. i tell you, all of us had megawatt smiles and looks of sheer euphoria while we ate.

just like the good old stone ages, the males hunted, while the females cooked. eileen seems to be the tribe leader.

however, it was palpable the guys lost the plot. we watched tv and waited to be served instead.

the turkey

eileen at work, again. she did a conspicuous good job filling our stomach.

the difference in size is staggering.

again, looks of euphoria. haha. actually, we were overwhelmed by the size. it was apparent we could never finish the food.

we even had log cake and puddings. however by then, we were bloated.

are you people rather perplexed? i seem to have tons of photo on food. but no group photo in sight. sigh. well, we took a few, but it's in someone else's camera. i wonder when i can get hold of them. all in all, i had a great christmas. thanks people. i am positive you people enjoyed yourselves too.
